Objective
To provide, using the Internet, staple food to chronically hungry
Indians so as to enable them to survive, learn and work.
The Inspiration
Born on December 15, 1975 and brought up in Mumbai, Lt. Nawang
Kapadia was the younger son of Harish and Geeta Kapadia. Nawang
did his schooling at St. Xavier's Boys' Academy to move on to Jai
Hind College and graduate from the Mumbai University with a degree
in 'Bachelor of Commerce'. Nawang was always everyone's favorite
wherever he went. A true follower of Mahatma Gandhi and believer
in non-violence joined the Indian Army as an officer and was engaged
in a sudden, fatal combat in Kashmir on November 11, 2000. He understood
and did more in his few years than most of us will in our life.
A tribute to the young man by his elder brother at www.nawang.com
"After having spent many hours over many years
in deep debate and discussions, Nawang and I had our dreams. All
through, one thing that bound us together was an urge to ''make
a difference'. However, my stand and argument to him was that we
should use our current time and energy to first 'get somewhere in
life' and then start doing something substantial! Nawang was more
focused than me and always two steps ahead of everyone. He said
he isn't going to wait to start the good work (I think he thought
it's a lame excuse not to start 'now'). Before we knew it he joined
the Indian Army as an officer and was posted in Kashmir. He was
being praised by his company in the Army and to me, in his uniform,
he looked like the one man who will save the world one day! Intelligent,
strong, good looking, kind, witty, positive, enthusiastic, well-mannered
and a born leader, there isn't anyone who impressed me as much.
It's a tragedy for his family and friends and is a peoples' loss
that he is not with us today. After years of pondering with and
without him, I'm taking a tip from the great man, my best friend..........
If you really want to start, start now. I can't see a better day
than today, his 28th birthday to launch the Bhookh.com project.
Nawang and I look forward to your support."
